OUR SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT

Here at the Sussex Log Co. we only use timber from local UK Woodlands that are well managed.

Thinning and re-planting of trees is the most important factor in making wood a sustainable and renewable source of energy.

Using wood for fuel is a natural and sustainable carbon – efficient source of energy.

Our aim is to continuously improve our carbon footprint and we want to improve the
recyclability and reusability of all our packing in the coming years. We aim to set up new
schemes that further promote our passion for protecting the environment.

Sussex Logs promote and support the sustainability of UK woodlands.

We source our cord wood from companies that use sustainable harvesting, through thinning and replanting their woodlands.

Woodland management is required for growing high quality sustainable timber and to fulfil the role of a naturally functioning forest.

By the end of 2024 we aim to be fully "wood sure" and "ready to burn" certified and look forward to supplying logs that carry this label.

We promote our ethos of being Eco Friendly, ensuring we do our best to reuse and recycle where possible.

We use the best English Oak off cuts, from local Saw Mills to make our Charcoal, in our very own kiln and we fill our Kiln Boiler with waste wood products.

By converting to Kiln Dried Logs you are helping to reduce the carbon footprint your log burning creates, ensuring that wood for fuel is an efficient source of energy.

What about deliveries – can we say we reduce our fuel consumption where ever possible through careful route planning.

Logs are delivered in 100% recyclable nets, once used these can be put in your household recycling bin.

We encourage our customers to recycle their used bulk bags on reorder, by promoting an exchange system.

We leave your logs in a bag on delivery for convenience and short term storage and ask that you exchange the old bag on your next log delivery

We also aim for a 100% recycling rate.

Understanding the increasing need to care for the environment, Bonny's Wood aim to recycle 100% of all green waste produced.

Tree surgery and general maintenance generates a large amount of green waste, the majority of which we chip and supply as mulch, biomass woodchip or process to be supplied locally as firewood.

All non green wastes produced are recycled either through reducing the quantity of materials we use, re-using previous materials where possible or sending to appropriate facilities for recycling.
