Hardwood logs come from deciduous broadleaf trees such as oak or ash, which are slower growing than conifers, meaning the logs they produce are denser.
This means they burn much more slowly, and as a result, are the best option for keeping your fire going for longer.
Hardwood is denser than softwood, making it heavier.
Kiln Dried Logs are the more expensive choice, however; are super dry and are "ready to burn" certificated.
The moisture content in kiln dried logs is less than 18%, which is considered low.
These logs burn the most efficiently and have had extra moisture removed in an artificial drying process, this is achieved by using a biomass powered kiln.
Seasoned logs are better for burning than unseasoned firewood, and a great choice for burning time & heat generation.
Seasoning (usually by leaving the logs for a period of time in the right conditions) enables a reduction of water content.
Seasoned logs are easier to light, produce more heat, & burn more cleanly.
