OUR LOGGING PROCESS
1. Sourcing of Logs
Our Logs are sustainably sourced from local UK woodlands and either collected by us via our tractor and logging trailer or delivered to our log yard.
Here it is unloaded via Hiab, stacked and the drying process begins.
2. Cord Stacking
Within our yard, cord wood is arranged in 3 stacks:
Stack one - is cord for part or unseasoned logging.
Stack 2 - is cord for seasoned, air dried logging and can stay stacked for up to 12 – 24 months.
Stack 3 - is cord wood for Kiln drying.
3. Log Processing
We split the wood using our log processor, which cuts the logs into 9-11 inch lengths.
Once split they go up the conveyor belt and straight into metal crates for kiln or air drying.
4. Drying Process
Kiln Dried logs get stacked in their crates in our two, 40ft kilns.
They are blasted at 120c for 5-7 days until maximum water is extracted.
Air dried and unseasoned logs are stacked straight into our barn facility.
Here, they are protected from the elements and remain undercover from driving rain and snow.
They are ventilated enough for continuous airflow to whip between them, minimising the risk of sweating in the sun.
Air dried or seasoned logs can be sold once they are ready to burn at 20% moisture content or lower.
Unseasoned Logs can only be bought alongside 1m3 of either kiln dried or seasoned logs and can only be burnt once they reach 20% moisture content or less.
Unseasoned Logs are good value if you have the space to
store them.
5. Log Delivery
Once an order has been placed and processed, our delivery drivers load and deliver your logs on a 3m reach Hiab truck.
They remain covered with special sheeting to protect from adverse weather conditions whilst on route to their destination.
