HOW TO STORE
YOUR LOGS

To get the most out of your logs, you need to stack and store them correctly, protecting them from elements, and allowing them to remain dry, or dry out.

When stacking and storing Logs there are several things to remember!

1. Invest in a Log store:
Store Logs off the ground, preferably in a Log store if space permits.
Log stores should have ventilated sides for air circulation to keep airflow at an optimum,
with a covered roof and at least 2 inches off of the ground.

2. Protection from the elements:
Store in a dry area out of the force of the elements, to protect from driving
wet winds heavy rain, snow and ice.
Use a special fire wood cover or tarpaulin to cover the logs in wet weather,
but remember to remover it when its sunny so the the logs do not sweat!
This will cause the logs to become damp and could go mouldy.

3. Location:
Whilst Logs need to be stored in direct sunlight, where airflow can circulate
through them easily, they also need protection from excessive winds,
which can blow in rain.
Picking the perfect place is paramount to keeping your logs dry.

4. Trees:
Do not store you logs under trees!
Trees collect rainwater and cascade water like a water fall straight onto your logs.
Rain and water do not mix!

5. Avoid grass:
Don't stack your Logs on Grass!
The dry Logs will act as a sponge and suck up the moisture from the ground/grass.
